Once Monthly Yin Yoga Classes for 2020

Wed Dec 18 2019

From 26th January 2020 we’ll be starting a new once monthly Yin Yoga class in replacement of 2018/19’s themed Chakra classes.

Yin Yoga is a very slow paced style of yoga with mainly floor based passive stretches which work deep into the body. We hold poses between 2–5 minutes with the support of props such as bolsters, blocks and blankets.

Yin helps to calm and balance the mind and body. It can help to reduce stress and anxiety, whilst at the same time it revitalises the body by allowing energy to flow freely, especially to the organs.

It helps to release the fascia, improve joint mobility and can increase flexibility in the body. We work towards our edge in poses, and focus on sensations that we feel within the physical body.

Having the opportunity to spend longer in poses than we would do in a regular yoga practice encourages the mind to slow down as we focus on slow calming breaths.

In Yin Yoga we are able to start to release tension that we may have been holding deep in the muscles. Each extended Yin session will finish off with an extra longer relaxation with either a guided meditation or yoga nidra.

The Venue

The Nigel Copping Building, Stanstead Abbotts has been a great venue for our extended classes, and we’re looking forward to runnnig these Yin Yoga classes here too.

The hall is large, clean and bright, and is only a short walk from the small town which has a pub at either end.

It’s set in a lovely spot next to the River Lee if you fancy a walk before or after the class. Hoddesdon, Hertford and Ware are all just a five, ten and fifteen minute drive away repectively.
