There are many elements to yoga such as breathing practices, meditation, visualisations the physical part is just one of them. Yoga can be a great to revitalise, rejuvenate and increase vitality by helping to keep the body in good health, increasing flexibility, promoting strength and boosting energy levels.
As we move towards the summer in June, it’s a good time of the year to start to open up, move more and strengthen the body to help us feel good. A lot of us in these days and times can feel tired, low in energy, unmotivated, stressed out, finding it hard to focus or having trouble sleeping. Physical movement is an excellent way to lift your energy. When we practice yoga we are not only moving our bodies but also starting to nourish our mind and spirit. We have probably all noticed how different we feel if we go out for a walk outside or the feeling after yoga or doing an exercise.
Practicing yoga regularly can help boost your mood and balance out your energy levels which is especially beneficial when you are feeling stressed, cluttered in the mind or even low in energy. Yoga works on a deep level to stretch and stimulate muscles, improve circulation to organs and can increase the flow of oxygen to the body. Physical movement can help to reduce physical tension in the body which in turn can leave you feeling more energised and rejuvenated.
The beauty of yoga. It is the meeting of the brain with the body.
Yoga practices can help to calm and relax us, especially when we are feeling stressed which helps to increase the release of endorphins in your body, and to leave us with a natural increase in energy. As well as the physical movements the breathing practices are just as important in yoga, which we call pranayama. These can help to reduce stress levels and improve mental clarity. Pranayama can increase your oxygen intake, calm your nervous system and improve your overall vitality.
Yoga is a powerful practice! This month we will work with some gentle flows and poses to bring more movement, lengthening and strengthening in class. From the Egyptian sun salutations that we’ve been working on the last few months we will add some new variations of sun salutations to our class as well as opening backbends, strong standing poses, some core work and always some fun balances!!!
