The fifth in the series of our two hour extended classes will be focused on the Vishuddha Chakra, or the Throat Chakra.
We’ve now covered the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus Chakras, with last month’s theme being the Heart Chakra.
The Vishuddha Chakra class will be running on 24th March 2019 from 2pm - 4pm at The Nigel Copping Building in Stanstead Abbotts.
Class Five - The Vishuddha Chakra
The Throat Chakra or Vishuddha Chakra means “the pure place” and its element is sound and ether. It directly affects the shoulders, neck, throat, tongue, mouth and ears, so we’ll be focusing on neck and shoulder openers in our postures and inversions.
The colour of the Throat Chakra is blue, and it’s associated with harmony, creativity and truth.
The sense related to the Throat Chakra is hearing. We will look at sound and vibration through the breathing practices of the Bumble Bee Breath - Brahmari, and the Ujjayi Breath.
We’ll also work through a sound meditation and look at the meaning of why “Om” is chanted.
Hopefully the weather will keep picking up as we head into Spring, as it was a beatiful day for last months class, and really gave everyone a lift.
Here are some pictures taken just before February’s Anahata Chakra class.
The Seven Chakras
There are seven main chakras in the body which run from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Chakras are subtle energy centres in the body where energy flows through. Each Chakra is connected to our emotional, physical, mental and spiritual spaces and through our yoga practice we can bring these energy systems back into balance.
The Venue
The Nigel Copping Building, Stanstead Abbotts is a great place for an extended class like this. The hall is large, clean and bright, and is only a short walk from the small town which has a pub at either end. It’s set in a lovely spot next to the river Lee if you fancy a walk before or after the class. Hoddesdon, Hertford and Ware are all just a five, ten and fifteen minute drive away repectively.
Class price £18
The Extended Vishuddha Chakra Class is limited to fifteen spaces.
If you would like to book a space please get in touch using either of the methods below, or you can always talk to us in class, or take a flyer.
