Extended Root Chakra Class

Yoga Herts Posted by Yoga Herts on
Mon Sep 24 2018

This is the first of my once monthly extended 2hr classes that will be running on Sunday 28th October 2018 from 2pm - 4pm at the Nigel Copping Community Building in Stanstead Abbotts.

The first class will be focusing on the Root Chakra

Class One - The Root Chakra

During the two hours we will work through poses and breathing relating to the Root Chakra with a few Yin/restorative style poses towards the end with the use of props including bolsters. We will explore grounding yoga poses to help you feel connected to yourself and work to create a strong foundation in the body. The related bija mantra (a one-syllable sound) and mudras (hand gestures) will also be taken into the practice.

The last part of the class will be a lovely guided meditation/visualisation to bring the mind back into focus and finishing off with a relaxing Savasana.

Finding and maintaining balance in Muladhara is an essential step to build a strong foundation and fill your life with satisfaction, stability and inner strength. The class will assist in connecting to the now, being present and balanced.

The Seven Chakras

This extended yoga class will focus on a monthly theme looking at Chakras with the first one being the Root Chakra also known as the Muladhara.

Root Chakra

There are seven main chakras in the body which run from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Chakras are subtle energy centres in the body where energy flows through. Each Chakra is connected to our emotional, physical, mental and spiritual spaces and through our yoga practice we can bring these energy systems back into balance.

The Root Chakra is found at the base of the spine and is mainly associated with your legs, feet and pelvis which will be explored through establishing a sense of grounding through poses. “Grounding” or “rooting” us is the main function and when we are grounded we are at one with life and able to manifest our goals.

The Venue

The Nigel Copping Building is a great place for an extended class like this. The hall is large, clean and bright, and is only a short walk from the small town which has a pub at either end. It’s set in a lovely spot next to the river Lee if you fancy a walk before or after the class.
