The third of our once monthly extended two hour classes will be running on Sunday 27th January 2019 from 2pm - 4pm at the Nigel Copping Community Building in Stanstead Abbotts.
These classes all have a theme related to each of the seven main Chakras.
Class Three - The Manipura Chakra
This third class will be focusing on the Solar Plexus Chakra also known as Manipura which is literally translated as “city of shining jewels.” Physically it’s located between the navel and the base of the sternum and governs the pancreas, digestive system’s organs, and the adrenal glands.
The Solar Plexus Chakra colour is yellow and it is related to the element of fire which is associated with energy, strength, purpose, courage, confidence, willpower, self-esteem, transformation, developing a strong self worth, and working with a sense of control over your life. This chakra is literally at the core of who we are.
As such we’ll be looking at igniting your internal fire by using movement to create heat and energy, strengthening the core, twisting poses, backbend poses and balancing sequences that will help to stimulate the energy through the Chakra and help you get in touch with your inner will.
We will look at also look at heat generating breathing practices and the solar plexus Bija Mantra (a one syllable sound, ram) which activates the energy of the Chakras, and also hand mudras and a meditation connected to the fire element.
The second part of the class will wind down and focus on twisting Yin/Restorative poses with the support of props, which will lead us into a calming relaxation and Savasana.
Here are some pictures taken just before last months class.
The Seven Chakras
There are seven main chakras in the body which run from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Chakras are subtle energy centres in the body where energy flows through. Each Chakra is connected to our emotional, physical, mental and spiritual spaces and through our yoga practice we can bring these energy systems back into balance.
The Nigel Copping Building, Stanstead Abbotts is a great place for an extended class like this. The hall is large, clean and bright, and is only a short walk from the small town which has a pub at either end. It’s set in a lovely spot next to the river Lee if you fancy a walk before or after the class. Hoddesdon, Hertford and Ware are all just a five, ten and fifteen minute drive away repectively.
