In line with our theme of the seven chakras, the next four weeks we will use poses, breathing and visualisation/relaxation techniques to tap into our heart chakra.

We will focus on poses and techniques to strengthen and harmonise the heart chakra through backbends, shoulder, chest and upper back openers and breathing practices to connect to the air element and feel the subtle sensations of life force energy moving through your body. When we create more space around the heart we start to feel open and strong.

The heart chakra, anahata is the bridge between the lower and the upper chakras. Anahata in Sanskrit is to “Unstruck”. The qualities that we develop through this chakra are compassion, affection, and love. The energy of the heart chakra starts in the center and expands through the chest. The heart chakra is responsible for moving love throughout your life and recognizes love as the ultimate healing force. Through our connection to the heart chakra we start to live life with kindness and compassion towards others and yourself.

Week 1 – Create Expansiveness – connection to the air element through our lightness of being and expansiveness.
Week 2 – Cultivating the Inner Light – yoga to open the heart and quieten the mind as we awaken the source of light that is within us.

Week 3 – Cultivating Gratitude – Feel gratitude for your breath and your body as we work to release tight shoulders and upper back.

Week 4 – Backbends – Strengthen the Spine and Activate The Heart – Move the spine through a combination of strength and flexibility and create space and energy in the heart.

Breathe, and all will be revealed. Love, and all will be healed. This is yoga.
